How do I know how much insurance to buy?

Since your income would exceed that of other employees, retirement plan rules limit what you can put away for yourself. Am I required to provide my employees with health insurance under the new law?

The Affordable Care Act does not require employers to provide health insurance for their employees. However, under the Employer Responsibility Provision of the Affordable Care Act, employers with more than 50 full-time workers, may be assessed a tax if

  1. The employer does not offer to its full-time employees (and their dependents) the opportunity to enroll in minimum essential coverage under an eligible employer-sponsored plan; or
  2. The employer offers its full-time employees (and their dependents) the opportunity to enroll in minimum essential coverage under an eligible employer-sponsored plan that either is unaffordable relative to an employee’s household income or does not provide minimum value.
